Getting Entangled with Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is set to be the next major technological revolution that will transform our lives. So, what exactly is it? What can we expect quantum computers to be able to do that regular computers cannot? Where does this field stand right now and who are the major players? And most of all, why should regular individuals care about developments in this highly technical field? All these questions and more will be addressed.

Bio

Dr John Millam has a PhD in theoretical chemistry from Rice University.  Theoretical chemistry involves the development and use of computer programs to apply quantum mechanics to problems in chemistry.  He currently works as a programmer for Semichem (www.semichem.com).  Dr Millam is a Reasons To Believe trained apologist and member of the scholar community.

They are found in star-forming regions, and they are the result of jets of material that are ejected from these stars. These jets can travel at speeds of hundreds of kilometers per second.  Protoplanetary disks are rotating disks of gas and dust that surround young stars. They are the sites where planets form. The material in the disk is gradually accreted onto the star, and it can also be ejected from the disk in the form of jets. HH objects are formed when material is ejected from the protoplanetary disk itself. This material can be ejected in the form of jets, or it can be ejected in a more diffuse manner.
